As Vega OS rolls out to more Fire TV devices, I would like to formally request a native feature that allows specific apps to automatically launch when the TV boots up or wakes from standby.
The Problem:
On standard smart TVs, users rely on specific apps immediately upon turning on the TV (such as local media servers, IPTV players, smart home dashboards, or digital signage tools). Currently, the Amazon Appstore blocks boot-receivers for security and policy reasons, meaning users must manually click into these apps every single time the TV is turned on.
Proposed Solution for a Future Update:
Please implement a native OS feature or API that allows this control. This could be handled in one of two ways:
- OS-Level Toggle: A setting under Settings > Applications where a user can select a default application to launch immediately upon device startup.
- Permission-Gated API: A specific Vega OS API permission that developers can request (e.g.,
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETEDequivalent for Vega), which prompts the user for explicit permission to auto-run on startup.
Implementing this would vastly improve the user experience for dedicated TV setups and smart home integration. Thank you for considering this addition to the Vega OS roadmap!
