Calmer week this time, but there are a few things worth acting on.
On the AI side, Amazon Bedrock cut prices on OpenAI’s GPT‑5.6 models by up to 80% on Luna, and Grok 4.3 and Gemma 4 landed in GovCloud for the reasoning and agentic crowd.
If you deploy on Lambda, Java 8, 11, and 17 now run on Amazon Linux 2023, so this is a good week to start planning your migration off AL2 before its window closes.
We’re on the ground at Gamescom in Cologne all month, and Ai4 opens in Las Vegas the day after this goes out, so if you’re at either one come say hi.
And on the living-room side, I got a kick out of the Fire TV gaming pitch (“no console required”), and there’s a good read on how Amazon built its custom-silicon business over the last decade.

Fire TV Integration SDK: background data-pull references removed — The docs dropped references to the inactive background data-pull service; off-device push events (isOffDevice=true) remain supported, so update any integration that still points at the retired path.
Just Walk Out: new Catalog validations guide — A single reference for the JWO Catalog APIs: required field rules and barcode formats, SKU upsert behavior, price and tax-code constraints, archive and upload-status polling, and the full error list. Worth reading for the limits alone, 10 requests per second and a 10,000-item cap per upload.
Lambda now runs Java 8, 11, and 17 on Amazon Linux 2023 — The newer Java runtimes are available on AL2023 as both managed runtimes and container base images; plan your migration off Amazon Linux 2 before its support window closes.
AWS Durable Execution SDK for .NET is now GA — Durable Lambda workflows now support .NET alongside Python, TypeScript, and Java; install from NuGet and write your workflows in C#.
