### Is your feature request related to a problem?

\<!-
Provide a clear and conciseYes. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select runs Vega OS and currently limits users to applications available through the Amazon Appstore. This means customers cannot easily install compatible third-party applications that are not listed in the store.
I have contacted Amazon Customer Service several times about this limitation but have not received a clear solution. I would like an officially supported sideloading option that allows users to install compatible Vega applications while maintaining appropriate security protections.
This would give customers more choice, improve flexibility and encourage developers to create more applications for Vega OS.

### Describe the solution you’d like

### Is this a blocker? Describe alternatives you’ve considered

Yes, this is a significant limitation for me because the lack of user-accessible sideloading prevents me from installing compatible third-party applications that are not available through the Amazon Appstore.
I have considered using the Downloader app or other installation tools, but these do not solve the problem if Vega OS does not provide a supported way to install third-party applications. I have also explored the available developer tools for Vega OS, but developer testing is not the same as having a simple installation method for everyday users.
I have contacted Amazon Customer Service several times to request sideloading support and have also contacted the developer of Downloader to ask about Vega OS compatibility.
My preferred solution is an official sideloading feature delivered through a software update. Alternatively, Amazon could provide a secure, supported installation method for compatible third-party Vega applications.
Without either option, customers like me have fewer choices than users of Fire TV devices that support traditional sideloading. I would appreciate Amazon considering a solution for existing Fire TV Stick 4K Select owners.

### Additional context

I am submitting this request as an existing Fire TV Stick 4K Select owner who would genuinely like to see Vega OS succeed.
I have contacted Amazon Customer Service on multiple occasions to ask whether sideloading could be enabled, but I have not received a clear answer about whether this feature may be introduced in a future update.
I understand that Vega OS is a different platform from Android-based Fire TV devices, and I am not expecting Android APKs to work natively. My request is for an official way to install compatible third-party Vega applications.
I would appreciate the Vega development team reviewing this request and considering whether optional sideloading could be introduced for existing Fire TV Stick 4K Select owners through a software update.
If this is not currently planned, please consider providing clarification on the technical limitations and whether an alternative installation method could be developed.
Thank you for listening to customer feedback and considering ways to give users greater flexibility while maintaining device security.

I’d love to hear from other Fire TV Stick 4K Select owners who would like optional sideloading support on Vega OS.

Would you support an official, secure way to install compatible third-party Vega applications that aren’t available in the Amazon Appstore?

I believe this would give customers more choice and encourage more developers to support Vega OS. Please share your thoughts and support this feature request if you agree!

Hello @Vinny_singh

Welcome to the Amazon Developer Community!

Thank you for your feedback. Amazon Vega devices are designed with your security and privacy as a top priority, and apps on Vega OS are distributed exclusively through the Amazon Appstore to ensure a safe and reliable experience for all customers.

Developer options on Vega Fire TV devices are available exclusively for registered developers who are actively building and testing apps for publication on the Amazon Appstore. If you are an app developer interested in building for Fire TV devices and want to enable developer options, please reach out to us via Contact Us on the Developer Portal.

We encourage interested app developers to submit their Vega-supported apps to the Amazon Appstore to make them available on Vega devices. You can discover and enjoy thousands of apps directly through the Appstore.

Warm Regards,
Ivy

Hello Ivy,

Thank you for responding to my feature request.

I understand that Amazon prioritises security and that developer options are currently restricted to registered developers.

However, as an owner of the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, I would really appreciate Amazon considering an optional, officially supported sideloading feature in a future Vega OS update.

I am not asking for unrestricted Android APK installation. I would welcome a secure method for installing compatible third-party Vega applications that are not available in the Amazon Appstore.

Could you please clarify whether Amazon is willing to consider this as a future product feature, or whether third-party installation is intended to remain unavailable to ordinary customers?

Hi @Vinny_singh

To provide clarity on this topic: Amazon Vega devices are built with a curated app ecosystem where all apps are distributed exclusively through the Amazon Appstore. As such, installation of apps outside of the Amazon Appstore is not supported on Vega devices, and there are no plans to introduce sideloading functionality outside of development requirements.
If there is a specific app you’d like to see available on the vega device, we encourage you to reach out to the app developer and let them know. Developers interested in bringing their apps to Vega devices can do so through the official Amazon Appstore submission process - details are available on the [Amazon Developer Portal](https://developer.amazon.com/).
We are actively working with developers to expand the selection of apps available on Vega OS.

Please reach out to us via Contact Us on the Developer Portal if you want to discuss more.
Thank you!

Warm Regards,
Ivy
