We are happy to announce a usability enhancement for developers - VDA Connection Mode control in the Fire TV UI. You can now choose how to connect and change the communication protocol to your Vega device using a toggle on the Settings interface:

Previously, you could only control the connection mode via the `vda` CLI. We listened to your feedback and have now added this feature to the user interface. You can now easily switch between modes with a few clicks. Note that changing the connection mode of your device **requires a reboot**.

## Prerequisites to use the new control

To use the new control, ensure the following:

- Your device must be running the latest OS version.

- Your device must have [Developer Mode](https://developer.amazon.com/docs/vega/latest/run-apps.html#step-2-register-fire-tv-stick-for-developer-mode) enabled.

- Your device and host are on the same network and network firewall does not prevent connections - if you wish to use TCP/IP mode.

**IMPORTANT NOTE:** Make sure to obtain your device’s IP address before toggling over to TCP/IP mode as you will need it in order to connect to the device.

Once the device is in TCP/IP mode, you can connect to it using the `vega exec vda connect <device_ip_address>:5555` command, `5555` is the default port used, although a different port number can be configured if needed. More information is available in our [documentation](https://developer.amazon.com/docs/vega/latest/vda-over-tcpip.html#connect-from-your-host-machine).

For any troubleshooting, refer to the [VDA Connectivity Troubleshooting guide](https://developer.amazon.com/docs/vega/latest/vda-issues.html).
