Currently, album objects are missing UPC data. The API only provides globalAsin and localAsin which are not useful in most real-world use cases for applications and stakeholders operating in the music industry. Applications and businesses that operate in music distribution, data reporting, and marketing all rely on UPCs as a single source of truth for a given product. Having the ability to both view the UPC on a given album and also search albums by UPC is essential for being able to effectively work with the API. Please consider including UPC support in the search endpoint and album objects.
Is the search for UPC already available? or by isrc?
Amazon Team, can we get an update? UPC is an essential value for albums. In the current API, UPC is not available on the Album schema so UPC cannot be read from any album resource. This also means that album’s cannot be searched or queried directly by UPC. Most labels and distributors will need to find an album by UPC which makes the API insufficient for core use cases (pre-saves, catalog search across streaming services, data validation, etc.). Please make the UPC field available on album resources as well as search filters.
Adding the UPC to the album object would be a much-needed improvement for accurately identifying and fetching the correct album, especially in cases where metadata like title or artist may not be unique.
This would significantly improve reliability for integrations. We hope this gets considered and included soon.
