Dolby OptiView Player support for Vega OS
In close collaboration with the Vega team and our customers, we are delighted to announce support for the Vega OS through the Dolby OptiView Player React Native SDK. Our commitment to Vega OS is actively evolving, and we’re now eagerly awaiting your feedback.
We’ve developed a sample application that not only demonstrates the capabilities of our SDK but also provides a comprehensive getting started guide, detailed documentation, and our development roadmap for Vega. This sample application is available on a private GitHub repository together with the updated version of the SDK.
Our approach to supporting Vega sets us apart by utilizing a pure React Native methodology, eliminating the necessity for mimicking a web environment through polyfills. This truly distinguishes our solution delivering the best possible performance from the Hermes runtime and avoids all performance issues and quirks linked to a polyfill based approach.
The core focus of our React Native SDK is to empower your teams to concentrate on JavaScript/TypeScript development. By bringing all necessary APIs to the React Native environment, we enable you to build customised experiences and engaging user interfaces without the need for native development. As with our normal React Native SDK, we plan to open source the extension for Vega for customers with a Dolby OptiView Player license.
As part of our ongoing roadmap, we are also planning to introduce support for the Open Video UI framework in Vega. This player UI framework offers an open-source, component-based structure, enabling you to bootstrap your user interface with pre-built components and player logic while retaining full customisation capabilities.
Our team is incredibly enthusiastic about Vega, as it represents a React Native-first approach that will undoubtedly drive further adoption of React Native technology. Please contact us and our team will reach out to provide access to our GitHub repository.
Exciting and looking forward to your reach out,
The Dolby OptiView Team.
