Kepler vda USB connection failing

Hi everyone,

I am trying to debug on a retail Fire TV device (we also have provided developer devices but we want to confirm on the end user hardware and software).

The devices are not enabled for VDA debugging on wifi (at least the command does not work on the :5555).

If connected via USB I cannot find the devices using kepler exec vda devices (also not with sudo). I tried two different USB-C to USB-A hubs as this device only has USB-C connectors.

Does anyone have an idea why this happens and how to solve this?

Hey @Merten_Schakohl

Welcome to Amazon Developer Community!!

Did you try switching back to USB mode via kepler exec vda usb as mentioned here?
You may also refer this page about connection issues.

Warm regards,
Ivy

error: no devices/emulators found

That does not work as there is no USB connection possible to any device for vda.
I am connecting the device to the macbook.

I also allowed USB devices to be trusted automatically

@Merten_Schakohl Have you configured developer mode as mentioned here?

Hello @Merten_Schakohl
Could you check,
if you connect one usb hub to the Mac, and connect the device to the usb hub, will it work?

or

do a reset vda server by
vega exec vda kill-server

vega exec vda start-server

This was what was missing. I did not register the Fire TV serial number.
