As we celebrate the launch of Vega OS on the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, we want to update you on our strategy to evolve React Native (RN) on existing and future devices. We plan to release a new version once per year as described in React Native for Vega architecture because RN is embedded into the Vega OS. In this post, we wanted to share preliminary plans about the 2026 release.
Meta’s current RN version is 0.82 and we will snap React Native for Vega to at least that version. Specifically, we plan to evaluate RN 0.83 features once it becomes available (current schedule is for December ‘25). During this period, we will also work with library maintainers to contribute Vega implementations back into the community. Our tentative schedule is to deliver the next release by Spring 2026.
