I am new to the Amazon Developer Console and would appreciate some clarification on a few points:
Is the Amazon Developer account completely free to use?
If I register as an individual or as a company, are there any differences in the services or features provided by the Developer Console, or is it entirely free and the same for all account types?
If I plan to develop and publish games on the Amazon Appstore, do I need to create a separate seller account, or is the developer account sufficient for publishing and monetisation?
What else should I know before start developing games on Amazon Appstore?
I would be grateful for your guidance on these matters.
Thanks for your post, and welcome to Amazon Appstore! Please see my replies inline:
Is the Amazon Developer account completely free to use? The Amazon Appstore developer account has no annual fee. However, a revenue share is deducted from your sales. For more details, please refer to the Distribution Schedule section of the Amazon Developer Services Agreement.
If I register as an individual or as a company, are there any differences in the services or features provided by the Developer Console, or is it entirely free and the same for all account types? There is no difference in functionality between individual and corporate accounts. Neither account type has an annual fee.
If I plan to develop and publish games on the Amazon Appstore, do I need to create a separate seller account, or is the developer account sufficient for publishing and monetisation? There’s no need to create a separate Seller account, as the Amazon Appstore Developer Console and Amazon Seller Central are separate platforms. An Appstore developer account is sufficient for publishing and monetizing apps on the Amazon Appstore.
What else should I know before start developing games on Amazon Appstore? Please review the submission prerequisites in the following document, and let us know if you have any further questions: Understanding Amazon Appstore Submission | App Submission
Hi @Emma ,
I hope this message finds you well. Thank you for providing the detailed information. I have reviewed the Amazon Developer Services Agreement, and I would like to seek clarification on a few points.
Revenue Sharing Model (80-20 Split)
It is my understanding that accounts generating less than $1 million USD in revenue are subject to an 80-20 revenue share, with 80% allocated to the account holder and 20% retained by Amazon. Is this revenue sharing model applicable to all account holders globally? Furthermore, if I create a U.S.-based LLC and register my developer account under this LLC, will the 80-20 split remain the same? Additionally, what specific tax obligations should I be aware of in this case?
LLC Registration and Revenue Distribution
I understand that the developer account registration is free for both individuals and company holders. However, would it be advisable to register a new LLC in the U.S. for the purpose of revenue distribution? Specifically, I am concerned with ensuring that the revenue generated through the developer account is attributed to the LLC and not to an individual. Would registering an LLC help facilitate this process, especially when addressing the bank for revenue deposits?
I would greatly appreciate your guidance on these matters.
Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.
