Hi,
Recently we’ve noticed that there is a significant difference between the time when an app is first available at the web version of the App Store, and the time when the same app becomes available at the on-device version of the App Store on Fire TV.
We have tested this with several apps, different developer accounts, and in all cases there is a delay of approx. 15 days between the two scenarios.
For instance:
- A newly submitted app is approved and goes live.
- We check the web version of the App Store, and the app is usually found a couple of hours later.
- We check the on-device version of the App Store on Fire TV, and that same app doesn’t show up until two weeks later on average.
Another way of reproducing the same behavior:
- Using the web version of the App Store, select Fire TV Apps.
- At the left menu, click on “New releases” → 30 days, and select a sample category (i.e. “Lifestyle”).
- Each listing will show its release date. Look for an app that was released a few days ago (but not over 2 weeks ago).
- From a Fire TV device, search for the app name, and it WILL NOT show up.
- From the web version of the App Store, click on “Get App” and select the same Fire TV device as target. The app WILL then be installed in the Fire TV.
Is this documented somewhere? Or is it a bug / temporary technical issue you are aware of?
Thanks!
