Thanks for posting! There are no changes since then, that is, there are no emulators / simulators available for Fire TV / Fire TV Stick devices. However, you can always create a virtual device yourself and test your app on it. Please refer to the following specs list to obtain various values to create a virtual device in the Virtual Device Manager:
