If you’re having issues with pairing your remote control to your test device, here’s a few suggestions to try:
Option 1: Pair your remote
Follow the pairing steps in our docs: Set up your Fire TV Stick
Option 2: Reset your remote
When in doubt, reset your remote using these steps on our support site.
Select the instructions for 3rd Generation Remote then repeat the pairing process.
Option 3: Factory reset your Fire TV device
Follow the reset steps in our docs: Troubleshoot Fire TV Stick Issues
If you need to perform a factory reset of the device, run the following command:
kepler exec vda shell vfr reset --type shallow
Now complete the pairing steps and try it again.
Option 4: Let us help you debug!
If you’re still having issues, there’s a good chance the problems you’re facing could be a known dev preview issue that we’re working on.
To help us track down a solution, make sure to let us know in the Q&A category or file a bug report. Save us time by providing any logs, photos, or related details that can help us troubleshoot the issue further.
Option 5: Check for the obvious
Do a quick sanity check to make sure the remote’s batteries have power. In addition, make your Fire TV device is plugged and the power source is working. It might seem obvious, but it’s worth trying in case!
