Hello,
my device is running OS 1.1 and doesn’t update. It’s a Fire TV Stick 4K Select with OS 1.1 (1401010446050) version, checking for updates always returns “Your Fire TV is up to date”. This is a big problem, since after newest SDK release I’m unable to install app on my device due to minimal os.version in manifest file having to be 1.2.
I tried to follow steps in Resolve Fire TV Stick Issues - Amazon Vega Docs to force update, but command:
ace mw wifi_cli get_net_state
returns -1 init failed,
and command:
vega exec vda shell ace mw ota forceUpdate
returns Error: -38 Ret: -5
vega exec vda shell cat /etc/os-release returns:
NAME="OS"
OE_VERSION="4.0.0"

OS_MINOR_VERSION="1"

I selected older version of sdk by vega sdk use command and rolled back package.json and package-lock.json to previous state. Now build and install claims to succeed but the app isn’t starting and after some time I’ve got a popup that a crash was detected due to AppNotResponding. I found few topics with the exact same problem but none provided a solution. One however suggested that development/non-retail build variants don’t receive the updates anymore. Please tell me:
- How do I verify if my device is a development/non-retail build variants?
- If my device is not eligible for update, is there a way to keep successfully using older versions of sdk and not be unable to install on my device every time new sdk version is published (this is a recurring problem)?
- If my device should be able to receive updates, then how to fix
ace mw wifi_cli get_net_stateandvega exec vda shell ace mw ota forceUpdateerrors?
Best regards,
Anna
