Why am I seeing 'United States' listed as the Country/Region on the Tax page, even though I am not a citizen of the United States?

Hi,

Thank you for reading my post I’m living in Morocco, and I’m pretty sure that I set Morocco as my country in

Settings > My Account
Settings > Company Profile

But when I went to Tax Identity settings, I see the Country/Region is set to the United States, why ?

Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for posting! United States (US) and Canada (CA) tax law requires Amazon to report royalty payments made to entities and persons residing outside the country, and may require Amazon to withhold and remit taxes on such royalty payments to the respective tax authorities i.e. US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Although you may also be required to report and pay taxes to your own government, Amazon is not involved in that process.
