I am an independent developer and audio reviewer based in Japan. I would like to ask about the official application process for Amazon Music Playback API access.
I am planning a personal, non-commercial Android proof of concept that would:
- Stream Amazon Music using authorized APIs and DRM.
- Run on a stock Android smartphone, initially a Google Pixel 7a.
- Play through an external USB DAC while preserving the source sample rate, with HD/UHD support where permitted.
Could you please clarify:
1. Are you currently accepting applications from independent developers for playback integration?
2. Is a third-party player on a general-purpose Android smartphone eligible? Your DRM Overview appears to restrict playback on devices where users can install custom software.
3. If eligible, where should I apply, and how can I contact the appropriate Amazon Music Business Development representative?
4. What certification, Widevine integration, and USB audio output requirements would apply?
The project would not copy another device’s firmware, reuse its credentials, extract DRM keys, or save decrypted music.
