Show 21 Touch Controls

Hi,
I was looking for some clarity on the Show 21 and it’s touch controls please.

I have an app TVONOS that works OK on the Fire TV and the Show 21 with a remote control. However, it will not work with touch controls on the Show 21 no matter what I attempt. I have had the App Beta tested on other touch devices with exactly the same changes and things work OK with the touch controls.

I have tried the changes detailed here:

And also tried to mirror the sample app:

But still no luck, I have looked on-line and there are various comments that the Show is locked down and 3rd party apps don’t have access to touch controls, and also the following:

Please would someone be able to comment on if it is possible to get Touch working on the Show 21?

Some other things to note (changes I did to the release version that gets things going on touch tablets and phones):

  • The App uses Leanback (as it’s fundamentally a TV App)
  • I have set the “android.software.leanback” to false
  • I changed the App Loader to android.intent.category.LAUNCHER rather than LEANBACK_LAUNCHER
  • The Settings screens native to Leanback are a bit temperamental to touch, but everything else is OK
